Ha! My cat can no longer hide! September 1, 2008 C. D. Foster (Olympia, WA United States) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
My son wanted me to have this so we could locate my cat when he (the cat) was playing hide and seek and we weren't being very successful seeking.
This little locator works perfectly, on the "getting colder" or "getting warmer" principle.
It would work just as well for keys, or anything else the tag part could be attached to. The locator part, of course, needs to be put where IT won't be lost. (It is fairly small, like a credit card.)
This would be a perfect stocking stuffer for someone who keeps misplacing his/her keys, or even briefcase or purse.

This RFID tracking device was a replacement for one that was accidentally broken. I use it to keep track of my cat, Cleo, who is basically an inside cat but I allow her to ocassionally wander outdoors for a little each morning. She never goes very far but has been known to hide in the bushes around our house or our next door neighbors. The receiver on her collar flashes and beeps when I am in range. While I usually can't hear it, she can and immediately knows that I am looking for her and usually comes out of her hidden space where I can see her. If she doesn't, I can zero in on her very easily. The Loc8tor Lite is easy to use and the batteries last about a year or so. The receiver on Cleo's collar is very small and light so it doesn't add any weight at all. This device gives me great peace of mind when it comes to finding my very special cat - inside or outside. The effective range is about 100 to 150 feet which has proven to be quite enough for her typical wanderings. I highly recommend the Loc8tor Lite to anyone needing to keep track of a pet or some other valuable object.
The best thing I've ever bought for my cats July 7, 2009 lulu 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am amazed how well the loc8tor works with my cats. The tags are smaller than the name/address plates they already wear on their collars. Best of all, the tags beep and light up once the cat is in range of the loc8tor device -- so it is even easier to find them at night. My cats have gotten to the point that they start to head toward the house on their own once their collars start to beep (just like a dog whistle). Worth every penny!
Pet Finder March 3, 2010 D. Phillips (Tennessee) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased this to locate our cat. WE like her home at night, but on nice nights, SHE decides when to come home. The product works as well as described. The batteries are pricy, but we are comfortable because it is doing the job we purchesed it for. The tags are always "on", so they need the batteries replaced every few months ($5 each for two batteries.) The pick-up is good and has a long distance, especially if there are no obstructions. The tags get wet when the cat drinks water, and the batteries tend to rust, which cannot be helped. The cat doesn't care for the beeping on the tag, so she tends to head home.
EXCELLENT! nice design, WORKS LIKE A CHARM August 3, 2010 I. Skrybailo (White Plains NY) I married into a home with three cats (my step-cats?) who were 100% outdoor. I've been trying to get them to be indoor only, but it's a losing battle, they're all seniors well into their teens. I've spent evenings searching high and low for the beasts, and spent many sleepless nights waiting for them to come home.
NO MORE. Now I can find them in their favorite hiding places, this thing is GREAT. I've had it for a month, the range is perfect (purrfect?) and the unit is nicely designed and easy to use.
One of my cats has even started to head inside each time his monitor starts 'chirping'... and I think the roast chicken he gets as a treat helps, too.
LOVE THIS PRODUCT.
Disclaimer : my kitties are all older and do not wander that far. Our home is on an acre and they generally do not wander off. The few times they have (during the day) I just had to walk the perimeter of the property and I was able to locate them easily.
