Ha! My cat can no longer hide! September 1, 2008 C. D. Foster (Olympia, WA United States) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
My son wanted me to have this so we could locate my cat when he (the cat) was playing hide and seek and we weren't being very successful seeking.
This little locator works perfectly, on the "getting colder" or "getting warmer" principle.
It would work just as well for keys, or anything else the tag part could be attached to. The locator part, of course, needs to be put where IT won't be lost. (It is fairly small, like a credit card.)
This would be a perfect stocking stuffer for someone who keeps misplacing his/her keys, or even briefcase or purse.
The best thing I've ever bought for my cats July 7, 2009 lulu 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am amazed how well the loc8tor works with my cats. The tags are smaller than the name/address plates they already wear on their collars. Best of all, the tags beep and light up once the cat is in range of the loc8tor device -- so it is even easier to find them at night. My cats have gotten to the point that they start to head toward the house on their own once their collars start to beep (just like a dog whistle). Worth every penny!
Pet Finder March 3, 2010 D. Phillips (Tennessee) We purchased this to locate our cat. WE like her home at night, but on nice nights, SHE decides when to come home. The product works as well as described. The batteries are pricy, but we are comfortable because it is doing the job we purchesed it for. The tags are always "on", so they need the batteries replaced every few months ($5 each for two batteries.) The pick-up is good and has a long distance, especially if there are no obstructions. The tags get wet when the cat drinks water, and the batteries tend to rust, which cannot be helped. The cat doesn't care for the beeping on the tag, so she tends to head home.
Works, but range is short July 9, 2009 Stephen D. Post (Fairfax, VA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the Loc8tor to attach to my cat's collar so I could find him to bring in at night, since coyotes have recently appeared in my area and I have a large yard. He was hiding in the flower bed, but it took me 20 minutes to find him because the loc8tor's effective range seems to be about 30 feet - just an intermittent, ambiguous weak signal otherwise. Knowing the short range, I can search accordingly and it is usable, but not nearly as good as I had hoped based on the product specifications.
Not water proof October 2, 2009 Susan Rhodes (Seattle, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got the Loc8tor Lite to help me locate my cat. The device worked well for the first couple of weeks, but them stopped working all together. As it turns out, the tags are not water proof. My cat dangles his tags in his water bowl when he drinks. After a couple of weeks the battery housings rusted and the tag quit working. We switched to a smaller cat bowl and a second tag for the cat, but I don't have much confidence in the system.
I think this would work for locating objects, but I wouldn't recommend it for pets.
